      fairing crack repair

long story short. I dropped "friend's" '06 ninja 250 and now there's a crack near the left turn signal mount. Well I gotta have it fixed. Otherwise the bike is mint and his parents wont let him sell it unless it's fixed...why? I have no idea but I'm getting quoted $450 to fix this damn thing and think that's an outrageous figure for a crack that's not 2 inches long. Someone local has got to do better than this, anyone know anyone?

Not sure who's doing the quoting. He's talking with some shop and just relaying the prices to me. They said 200 in labor and apparently 250 in supplies...hence me going batshit at how ridiculously high that is.

yeah - throw up some pics. cracks are easily fixed, and if it is really THAT bad buy a new fairing and put it on your self. shit for real - ebay even prob replacing it on bikebandit or cheapcycleparts.com would save you hundreds from that quote.

I guess that all really depends on how bad it is - get us some pics

I dont paint, but I can plastic weld most OEM fairings. Its fairly easy to do. Once welded a little flexible putty and sanding has it ready to repaint.

i'll try to get some pics. it's at his house and I moved to indiana which makes all this even more of a pain. no pieces missing. It's a small crack, about 2-3 inches, if I remember correctly it doesn't propagate all the way to the edge of the fairing

I've priced some fairings. For some ungodly reason ninja 250 front fairings with no cracks or broken tabs go for 200-250 not to mention having to have it repainted.

weasel, I may just get in touch with you if you're interested in making some dough

oh yea, i realize it's a bit longer than 2 inches. I just haven't seen in it in a while. still, it's not very severe.
