      Carbureted Race bikes

Are there any disadvantages to carbureted race bikes? Specifically the sv650. I feel like every year the first problem everyone has is their carburetors. Gotta clean and tune them. I can just imagine being on the track and next thing I know the bike starts sputtering, just like my 500 would do. Anybody have experience with on a carbureted race bike that can share their thoughts? Thanks

My GSXR is carburated. I have had no issues with it at all. All of my bikes have been carbs. Unless they are way out of wack when I get them or major dirty they usually don't give me any issues. Once I have them cleaned properly and synced They are good till when ever as long as I don't let the bike sit too long without running it.

if you drain the fuel out of the carbs when you leave it sit for a while such as winter which is easy to do you wont have a problem

Once the jets & needles are set right you'll never have a problem with carbs! Plus they're easy to clean!

Carburated bikes are cheap and easy. You hear horrors of them because everything up until the last ten years have had carbs. lol There are tons and tons of them and tons and tons of people who let them sit and don't take care of their bikes. Carbs work great.

Yeah, our R6 is carbed..the idiot that had it before us had no idea how to clean or set anything so he thought the bike was screwed up (the reason we got it so cheap) Rich replaced the needles and set everything up right and its been running like a top for 3 years with no problems. The only thing thats kind of annoying is choking it in the morning instead of just hitting the magic button, but sometimes I have to choke Rich in the morning to get him in gear too, so I'm use to that
