But a valve adjustment n stuff would probably fix that? Since I don't have a truck, I'd have to ride it back from Columbus. I'd have someone give me a ride up there to get it then ride it back down. You think it would make it ok? Or is this "tick" something that needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY?

Possibly. I'm sure if it came to it we could work something out. She has found quite a few already though. This is more in our price range though.

Doubt it would hurt it to ride it back, depends on how bad it is. I put over 2000 miles on a katana with a ticking engine when I didn't know jack shit about bikes. Listen to the engine with a screwdriver when you rev the bike up. Google is your friend if you don't know what I'm talking about. If it gets louder than idle... eh i dunno. If it stays the same or goes away from the cam chain being under load I would ride it back.

Thanks for the help! I'll google that and send dude a text tomorrow morning.

Ttam, stay tuned. I'll let you and Kessu know about the CBR if I end up finding an SV in my budget.

The F4 is carbureted and the F4I is fuel injected. I wouldn't get a carbureted bike if it sat for a long time and it's running rough. Might need a carb clean and thats not cheap if your not doing it yourself. It's not that EZ to do yourself if you don't know what a SYNC gauge is. If it needs a battery, they run over $100 cus it take a YTZ10S. If I were you I would get something fuel injected.

She rode the F4 last summer. I've seen that bike run. It runs just fine. The only issue is that bike needs tires. The bike with the tick that we're talking about is an SV that I may get instead of the F4.

If you can get the F4 for under $1700 jump on it but I would take someone with that knows bikes to look at that SV.

nah the ole es9bs from walmart is spec for the f4....like $60. Still, everything that fits an F4i will fit an F4 with exception of like rear sprockets and a few other minor things. They're reliable bikes and still plenty fast. Can still buy new aftermarket shocks for them. Not much else you'd really need to make a track bike but clip ons, rearsets and maybe frame sliders...all easily sourced. If you ever decide to track it, just put f4i plastics on it...also still made new, nbd.

If you could get it for $2g that's not bad either....sold my banged up 30k mi turd 99 f4 last spring for like $3000

Only things that ever go wrong with em....regulator rectifier, easy fix, just switch to a newer MOSFET type...and cam chain tensioner. Switch to manual.
